Importance And Misuse Of Technology In Our Lives

Hardly do we see anybody who does not own a wireless remote type device we all call as cell phone or mobile phone. This little thing is a world in itself and has become so inseperable part of our lives that we cannot imagine our daily life routines without its existence. What is it ? A wonder of technology and science indeed… but everything we have around us has a darker side to it as well ; and mobile phone is no exception. If on the one hand it helps you to explore the world on your palm, connects you to your beloved ones and lets you be with each of them in peak of your good times and in thick of your toughest troubles, acts as your best friend when you are in need. At the same time it is increasing the crime rate as well in multiple ways.

SIM And Related Mischiefs

In the recent days the misuse of the SIM (Subscriber’s Identification Module) card by people who indulge in crime activities causing troubles to many people who are completely unaware of the unlawful acts committed by them. This was not so until the Government started a service that has helped people discovering as to how many unauthorized SIM cards are being used in their name. Apart from this, cell snatching has been responsible for the wastage of many innocent lives of those who resisted giving away their possessions to the snatchers, and those who give up in front of the criminals manage to save their lives but undergo financial losses. Recently there have been rumors about the connection of cell phones with the bombs which means that once you press the button, cell phone acting as a remote blows up the distant bomb.

Some Evil Uses

The story does not end with the cell phone. We have endless other technological aspects to look at. Here I shall just highlight what makes it worse. How many individuals do you find around you who have written reminders and work info with them? one out of 100?? Most probably yes… this is the figure to mention when you talk about the recent professionals. There are Companies whose entire activity depends on the online processes, and imagine what would happen if everything vanishes away in a single click ! You must be wondering as to why I am talking about all this… Let me tell you now I am going to talk about a thing that you all might have heard of, i-e. “hacking”. By using specially designed softwares people get access to the other person’s personal data without any legal permission. Sometimes it is just destroying the important data of the victim. Viruses play a vital role in the process of hacking; these are some types who are simply designed to destroy the systems so that they remain of no use, and to my majority of such people who come under the label of hackers are youngsters who are just wasting their talent in a wrong direction. The individuals who create and promote the softwares containing hacking settings and viruses should be banned and people should avoid using their products so that they stop doing it.

The social websites whose main objective is to connect people who are linked with each other but do not always things go so smooth? People who are the members of such sites become victim of the problem that their pictures are misused. Then yet another series of problem in the techno world. There has been a introduction of websites that are not suitable for youngsters and they are being highly used without any proper security settings.

At the point where internet and technology transformed world in to a global village, we really need to ponder over the fact that it has somehow increased the distances too. Wondering how? Let me tell you… recently there have been issues regarding the disrespect of the definite figures of religions specifically Islam, this has increased the distances between several religions and hence created many problems. Furthermore, media a vital source of entertainment and news updates has to be mentioned when we talk of technological problems. Media is something that both literate and semi-literate people have access to,… they can find everything of their taste and choice.

But yes what I want to highlight is the negative impact of media on people, when we talk of benefits no doubt they are endless but yes we need to see the other side as well. How many of you have noticed that when we see a cigarette advertisement on television what we see is that people who smoke are performing mega stunts and that sure impresses the teenagers who might develop a concept that you become able to perform stunts only when you smoke. There is no sensibility in showing a small caution notice at the end of it that hardly anyone notices. The dramas and the movies are most of the time full of glamour that normal might start looking for in the real life not realizing that they just watched a drama or a movie not a real life clip. That not only creates diversity in real life but also in the cultures.

There have some cases when some news channels blow the news to a very high level just to increase their publicity but knowingly or unknowingly what they do is create unrest and panic among the locals. Media is a definite part of our lives and yes it has a lot more importance but there is a need of some steps to be taken in order to make sure that the negative aspects do not affect the people.

Not only this, the websites offering black papers i.e. the leakage of the examination papers before there are officially conducted have been a severe headache for the multiple educational boards. This has been affecting the life of students who actually work hard in order to perform well. Those who do well just because of getting the examination question paper in hand a night before the offical exam, take away the right of hardworkers to be on the top ! What a sad thing ?

Piracy is unofficial  use of the products and is sold in markets at lower prices. Being cheap, they definitely appeal more to the people leaving behind the actual developers in loss. This is against the laws of this industry. When one uses a software, he must have license to use it in order to make it legal ; but when people get the full package In less than half of the price, “why spend more money?” they say. Here all of us who use pirated stuff are responsible in pormoting this crime. We should condemn using pirated  products in order to make the dealings and business of the IT industy a fair business.

Hopefully, this essay may divert everybody’s attention towards them and create awareness so that appretiate measures are taken to stop these crimes.
