In real time when a manufacturer produces any product, he/she visits from place to place, shop to shop and sometimes home to home in order to sell his/her product. This is called product marketing.
Similarly, when any person or a company sells its product(s) over Internet by means of a website, web-add or web poster then this marketing is said to be an Internet Marketing.

Scope Of Internet Marketing

The scope of Internet Marketing is very enormous. By means of Internet Marketing, the manufacturer sells his or her product in the whole world while providing all the necessary information related to the product(s) at one place. People, over the internet, all over the world view the products details and purchase them according to their interest.

Almost any category of product can be sold on internet, no matter if it is in physical form or soft form. From medicines to clothes, hardware to software, furniture to property, cosmetics to accessories, all products can easily be put up for sale on internet.

Target Audience

There is no product on the earth that is meant to be only for some level of people in a restricted area. However people belonging to different areas may have different usage of a single type of a product.  And hence the target audience in Internet Marketing is the whole world regardless of their races, living areas, ages, genders and statuses. Product is open for all spectators on the internet.

Internet Marketing Strategies

There are several Internet Marketing strategies that can be applied in order to advertise a product on the internet more effectively. The smart marketing strategy results in more wholesale of the product. Some of the mostly used marketing strategies are Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay per Click and Link building strategies. SEO is more ordinary among all internet marketing strategies. This stratagem engage creation of a website`s content search engine responsive.  Pay per click means a method to compose a sale on each click. Link building involves a method to get links from other trendy websites.

Advantages Of Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing is quite successful and beneficial prospect for both the retailer and consumer. Marketing of a product on internet has many advantages like;

  1. A seller, producer or a manufacturer can sell a product in the whole world.
  2. A manufacturer may belong to a restricted area but he/she can sell his/her product over unlimited area.
  3. All the product(s) details have to be produced just for the one time and then can be accessed by anyone, anywhere and anytime in the world.
  4. Internet Marketing is the fastest way to introduce a product to the world.
  5. Inter Marketing is the cheapest of all media of marketing like TV, radio, newspaper or print media.
  6. Product consuming ratio is higher via Internet Marketing. The more the product is marketed on internet, the more the product can be sold.

  6. This is very informative article and really appreciate you effort. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine marketing) are two major strategies for Internet Marketing. If we talk about SEO, there are several sub strategies use to optimize the website which include Blogging, Social Book Marking, Social Networking, Link Building including one way (free or paid submission) , two way (Direct link exchange) and three way (Three parties involvement) link building, forum commenting, article submission. PPC (pay per click ) is the form of paid marketing that itself a separate strategy in context of traditional SEO. I would like to say that they are not three different strategies actually, PPC and link building are the parts of SEO, PPC consider as a different strategy from SEO but some people take it under the head of SEO when they talk about modern SEO techniques, where SEO is a very broader term that contains many other sub strategies.

    I just read the article & im really amazed as well as shocked to see a few anomalies which are mind boggling to say the least. I worked for Spell Media which is Exclusive Licensee for Pakistan of 20th Century Fox and MGM Studios as a Marketing Executive & Brand Manager & i would like to share a few pf my experiences.
    Well the definition used in the opening "In real time when a manufacturer produces any product, he/she visits from place to place, shop to shop and sometimes home to home in order to sell his/her product. This is called product marketing." is of Sales or Front Door Marketing but not of Product Marketing, which incorporates the 7 P's & Extended Marketing Mix as the process you defined is of "Personnel Selling" & not of Product marketing.
    Secondly Target Audience paragraph is totally flawed as the line "There is no product on the earth that is meant to be only for some level of people in a restricted area" is just inaccurate & fallacious to say the least. It’s a Myth & a misconception of a layman that Internet Marketing/IM is "not" targeted towards a specific group or cluster of people. Is the article suppose to suggest that if i put up a banner or ad of an Antismoking NGO on Lakson Tobacco’s Website it would get me donors & similarly i cant place a banner Ad citing “Justice for Imanae Malik” on Doctors Hospital website or can i???
    In my experience (which is also the general trend) of Marketing & Brand management at Spell Media, i did Niche Marketing using IM tools since the Product price was very high compared to the available ones & MSA managed it pretty well i guess as we ended up in doing Brand Partnerships with many multinationals & used Lists for IM mostly, which is one of the best strategies for internet marketing in my opinion as you reach the Right Customer at Right Time & at Right Cost which is close to Zero.
    My intention is to point out the Discrepancies in the Article & present with a broader view & not to offend.

  9. Nice article! You did a good job but I would like to share something related to your article.

    The traditional “P” most affected by the Internet may be “promotion” because there are many choices in selecting strategies but I would like to add Social media (Face book, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, blogs and LinkedIn etc ) in Internet Marketing strategies. In this fast pace world we need to think and act in terms of a “Total Web Presence” means if we are not participating in social media, we are not really online. Businesses around the globe are scrutinizing high value for their marketing proposal with social media. In a nutshell Social media optimizes marketing means of businesses to control their marketing strategies and assets using social networks. In today’s world consumer rules and we need to make sure this consumer is connected to our business in a 2 dimensional way.
