Google Turns Into Pac-Man

by Admin on May 22, 2010

Google doodle celebrates the Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary.  Today the page has been turned into a game. Enter google.com and there you will find Pac-Man ready to be clicked and played.

While Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde the maze in which you run through your mouse spells out Google celebrating 30th anniversary of world’s most famous game Pac-Man. Click “Insert Coin” and there you are ready to run for your life on google maze. Even if you don’t want to play it, it will not wait for you and start all by itself.

Confuse yourself and have even more fun by clicking twice on the game and you will have another partner to play with. WASD are the keys. So let’s get rolling, or rather running.

Marcin Wichary, Google programmer and senior user interface designer, says: “When I was growing up, my dad had the best job I could possibly imagine: he was an arcade game and pinball technician. For me, that meant summer trips through Poland’s coastal cities with their seasonal arcade parlors; peeking inside cabinets to learn programming and engineering secrets; and – of course – free games!”

Although Pac-Man has always has a huge number of male following, with the introduction of Ms Pac-Man the game attracted a large sum of females as well. But why isn’t it known as Pac-Girl. This is where your partner with a bow comes in while playing on the Google homepage.

Wichary says Pac-Man “seems like a natural fit for the Google homepage. They’re both deceptively straightforward, carefully hiding their complexity under the hood. There’s a light-hearted, human touch to both of them. And we can only hope you find using Google at least a quarter as enjoyable as eating dots and chasing ghosts. You know, without actually needing any quarters.”

Google has been changing the Google main page every now and then. First, we observe dynamic images and placing Logos of special events, but today it has completely transformed into a game. Click on the link www.google.com and celebrate Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary, and let the pizza shaped protagonist beat Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde away.
