Microsoft will be launching Windows Mobile 6.5 in this October on the 6th. Then onwards, Windows Mobile 6.5 will hit the retail stores worldwide. Because this time Microsoft has planned to surprise its users by providing them improved and advanced browsing capabilities with additional access to valuable services, including Windows Marketplace for Mobile and My Phone services. Windows Mobile 6.5 is said to have a redesigned Internet Explorer Mobile browser, built-in Adobe Flash Lite support for better rendering and completion of tasks.

Its “heavily retooled user interface”, emphasizes touch interactions. The start menu will take you directly to honeymoon pattern of icons which will enable the users to easily launch programs and move directly to their desired destination. Thus the users can enter voice mails, e-mails, and missed calls directly from the lock screen. With an updated version of Internet Explorer Mobile, Windows Mobile 6.5 enables its users play Flash videos from YouTube or Hulu.

Microsoft stated: “With the new version, users can change the look and feel of their phones with designer themes or a personal background and customize their home screen with widgets so the information they need is always easy to find.”

Todd Peters, corporate vice president of the mobile communications marketing group at Microsoft, said: “A Windows phone gives people a single phone that works for their whole life, keeping them connected to the people and information they care most about by harnessing the power of the PC, phone and Web.”

With the launch of its store Microsoft will stand face to face in competition with its competitors Apple, Nokia, RIM, Google, and Palm, who have already launched their centralized mobile application stores .

The store will enable its users to back up and sync their contacts, photos, videos, calendars, and text messages over the air. The service is somewhat similar to Apple’s MobileMe, and Microsoft has also  announced that is easier for users to switch devices, or replace a lost smartphone.

Microsoft has now decided to change the way we make use of Internet. Today, we are waiting for the time when everyone will be using their mobile instead of their PCs to perform tasks. Now we are waiting for its launch and reaction of users worldwide.

There are infinite YouTube users out there and many spend a considerable amount of time on popular Google owned video sharing service. Regular users of Youtube also mark videos as “favorite”, “rate”, upload and comment on videos. Many users also share videos from Youtube to the popular Social Networking website Facebook and the popular micro-blogging website Twitter.  Most of the time, posting links to the video is more time consuming them watching the full length video itself, and if you are spending a lot of time on Youtube discovering interesting videos, then it becomes even more difficult to share every video among your friends and followers.

Well, today is your lucky day, because you can use the sleek new feature AutoShare by Youtube in order to share your YouTube activity among your Facebook friends and Twitter followers. Your Youtube activity includes, but is not limited to uploading a new video, marking a video as “favorite”, “rating” a video etc.

Let me show you how to achieve that;

Just login to your Youtube account and go to Account -> Sharing

AutoShare with Twitter

1. Make sure you are logged in to Twitter in order use this feature (if you have multiple accounts, then login to the desired twitter account)
2. Click on the twitter link and a new popup will appear (you may need to sign-in to your Google account, if asked)
3. Click on ALLOW on the new popup window.

4.    The popup will acknowledge your request and take you back to Youtube Accounts page.

5.   Viola! You are connected to your twitter account. Next time when you mark a video as “Favorite” etc it will be posted to your twitter stream.

AutoShare with Facebook

1. Make sure you are logged in to Facebook while you want to use this feature
2. Click on the Facebook link and a new popup will appear (you may need to sign-in to your Google account, if asked)
3. Click on CONNECT on the new popup window

4.     Select ALLOW PUBLISHING on the next page.

5.    Congratulations! You are connected to your Facebook account. Your Youtube activity would now be posted on your Facebook profile.

YouTube is in talks with Hollywood’s studios Lions Gate Entertainment, Sony Corporation’s movie studio, Time Warner’s Warner Bros and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer who already have advertising revenue-sharing deals with it. The discussions are still in process and the deal will totally depend upon the decision of the pricing. All the above mentioned studios will come up with their own terms and conditions but will receive 60 per cent of the total revenue earned, with a floor of about $2.40 that could vary depending on the age of the title.

“While we don’t comment on rumour or speculation, we hope to expand on both our great relationship with movie studios and on the selection and types of videos we offer our community,” said YouTube spokesman Chris Dale.

YouTube plans a three month trial in order to test the world’s response on the rental service. If succeeds, then the plan of renting videos will help Google return to its old business. Besides providing a free look at the short clips, Google Video had earlier sold the rights of viewing free movies and TV shows, before it bought YouTube for $1.76 billion, nearly three years ago. After selling its rights Google jumped directly into the YouTube business and built its pool of audience all over the world by providing them with YouTube’s totally free service.

We humans are always inquisitive about how the world looked like in its earliest incarnations. We failed to get pictures of the world but we do have something for our readers something interesting which they can enjoy.

While I was completing my thesis, I found a well formulated article from Wikipedia, which served as a great supplement for the information I needed. Most of the students around me were depending on the information from Wikipedia for their research as it is among the top 10 most visited websites across the globe. But my supervisor warned me and told me not to use the Information available on Wikipedia as it was not reliable. I was Perplexed.

So I decided to research on it and I found a statement on Wikipedia which said,

“Anyone is welcome to add information, cross-references, or citations, as long as they do so within Wikipedia’s editing policies and to an appropriate standard.”

Well this open editing policy did create a few problems for the website. I was actually amazed that such a website allowed ANYONE to upload and edit ANYTHING. Today I have something to show everyone. But first I have to question to ask,

Alas, due to a cruel and unusual click of the mouse, it no longer exists. The fate of the island was decided by one named only as ‘Danny’ who, in one fell swoop, wiped out the whole island, ordered groceries online, and watched videos on YouTube.

Thus Wikimedia, a non-profit organization which runs Wikipedia, has decided to formulate a new team of “experienced volunteer editors”, so that the information remains authentic and up-to-date.

“We are no longer at the point that it is acceptable to throw things at the wall and see what sticks,” said Michael Snow, chairman of the Wikimedia board. “There was a time probably when the community was more forgiving of things that were inaccurate or fudged in some fashion — whether simply misunderstood or an author had some axe to grind. There is less tolerance for that sort of problem now.”

Nothing can be more embarrassing for a country if a foreigner searched a country’s president’s name and found Tony Blair’s middle name as “Whoop-de-do”. Or found John Seigenthaler, a renowned American journalist, as one of the assassins of US President John F Kennedy. Or what if you discovered one day that the information you are currently reading was edited by Wikipedia’s one of the most prolific editors, named Ryan Jordan, was actually a 24-year-old college dropout rather than a theology professor whom he had claimed to be.

Reaching the top and retaining your position is not as easy as it might sound. Wikipedia is the world’s most top rated encyclopedias used by 65 million people from all over the world, each month.

Larry Sanger, one of the co-founders of Wikipedia, left and built his own rival site named as Citizendium, which controls the contributed material and edits it as required said, “It’s been one of the sorest points, how the site has played fast and loose with people’s reputations. It’s nice to see they’re doing more – but one has to ask if this will make much difference at all.”

So here is an advice for all the students out there, ‘Research’ but make sure the resource is reliable. Because at the end of the day, authentic information is what matters, not the number of people who visit it.
